The employees are the most important part of every successful company. If they are happy, their productivity will increase and help your business grow. The key to continuity in productiveness and efficiency is in keeping your facility in perfect order and the working environment healthy and safe.

Using manual labour may lead to injuries and fatalities of workers, so that’s why you have to meet all the safety requirements and create adequate working conditions. And some of the most essential items you’ll need are height-assisting devices such as step ladders and stools to safely access hard-to-reach items.

The Need for Step Stools and Ladders for Easy Work Flow

Step ladders and step stools are very similar in their design, general appearance and construction, however, there are a few subtle differences between the two. A step ladder is a self-supporting ladder, in the shape of an inverted V when its two halves are pulled apart at an angle with treads or steps.

A step stool, on the other hand, is smaller and lighter and most step stools take the shape of an inverted V with hinges connecting their foldable sections. Some of them have additional steps to ensure easier climbing.

The ladder is often taller than the stool and features more steps, which makes it a good choice for outdoor use as well. It’s ideal for accessing higher areas, while the stool is mostly preferred for indoor use, to reach shelves and cabinets. You can choose from a variety of step stools and ladders and find what suits the needs of your facility the most.

The step ladders are built to perform more rigorous jobs, therefore, they are stronger and have higher quality construction to accommodate higher impact. They have a higher duty rating and are suitable for industrial and commercial purposes, while the stools are designed for lighter tasks and work best in indoor spaces.

The overall lightweight construction of step ladders and stools offered in various height capacities provides optimum portability between sites and they essential in almost any working environment. They are ideal for use in warehouses, construction sites and retail stores as their self-supporting design makes them a convenient choice and can help preserve the employees’ safety. Step ladders and stool are an effective and ergonomic solution to industrial access tasks and can be found in a variety of sizes, load capacity and material types.

Step Ladders and Stool Materials

The material a ladder or stool is made of can play a big role in a few aspects of your decision to buy it including cost and use, so think about the types of projects where having them is essential or handy.

Aluminium

Aluminium is an excellent material for step ladders and stools because it’s strong and can stay intact after a lot of use. More importantly, it’s lightweight, which makes it easy for you to haul one back and forth. But keep in mind that it’s a metal and it can conduct electricity. If you’re working near electrical equipment or wires, an aluminium ladder or stool is not the right choice for you.

Fibreglass

Fibreglass is strong and can take rough handling and it doesn’t conduct electricity like aluminium. It’s a durable material and a good solution for working outdoors.

Plastic

Plastic stools are some of the most suitable options for different facilities.

Steel

Steel ladders are a practical solution as they are resilient and can handle heavy loads, but keep in mind that they are heavy. Also, proper storage is required to prevent a steel ladder from rusting.

Use Step Stools and Ladders Carefully

Lastly, note that step stools and ladders can be a very handy tool or a dangerous tool, all depending on how you use them. If used and stored properly, they will be some of the most helpful devices in your facility.

Before using the ladder or the stool make sure you take all the safety precautions. One of the most important things to do is to check the ladder or the stool before its use for any damage, wear and tear, corrosion or other indicators of poor condition.

Then, ensure the ground is level and all the four rails are securely supported. Use them only if the two halves are fully spread out and then locked to maximise stability and prevent snapping. Also, make sure the ladder or the stool is located at least four metres away from any power lines. When using a ladder, always try to keep three points of contact with it and wear a tool belt if needed when carrying tools up the ladder.

Also, it’s important that the user never stretches himself beyond reach while on the ladder or the stool nor mount the ladder from the side or step from it to another. This can lead to a shift of balance and lead to injuries caused by falling, or death, in the worst-case scenario.

Wear non-slip footwear and if you temporarily leave the ladder or the stool during operation, make sure to recheck every time. When you’re done with the task, perform a final check consisting of cleaning if needed, then check for loos and damaged parts and finally, store the ladder or the stool in a proper location.

The right machinery is important for accomplishing a variety of heavy-duty tasks from warehouse work to farm chores. When it comes to portability though, these machines have their limitations since they are heavy.

By using the right trailer, you can move your machines easily wherever they’re most needed. Machinery trailers can be very different, however, they are all based on the universal utility trailer, upgraded with a ramp and gear to secure the load and with features that suit a specific kind of machine.

Mower Trailers – Essential for People in the Farming or Landscaping Business

This is a fairly common need, especially for those involved in farming and landscaping. Taking a mower along is also required if you have a property that is some distance from your permanent residence. The many purpose-built mower trailers on the market are great for this.

Unlike a universal trailer, they have aluminium ramps or heavy-duty drop ramps created to make the loading and unloading as easy as possible. Depending on the exact measurements, mower trailers can even take more than one piece of equipment. So, you can load your push mower or ride-on mower as well as collect all the biomass and transport it away from the site.

We have a fairly sized market for this sort of equipment here in Australia. You can take advantage of the circumstances to design and order your custom configuration of a trailer.

The most usual type of trailer for moving mowers is the caged variety. It comes with a drop ramp at the back and a hot-dip galvanised frame to make it long-lasting. But you can add other useful features too.

Some prefer having a fully enclosed trailer with barn doors to make sure straw bales used for construction remain dry. Closed trailers are particularly handy for those that use ride-on mowers on a daily basis – they eliminate the need for unloading the machine into your shed at the end of the workday.

A heavily customised trailer can make for convenient and secure transport of small farm machinery. One can add many useful features to the trailer: jerrycan holders, spare wheel, toolboxes, drawbars, canopies, side steps – you name it.

These can also help secure the cargo. The most basic way to secure a mower during transport is to use ratchet straps to secure it to the corners of the trailer. Make sure the tension is equal because driving will cause a lot of vibration. Two additional straps to the front and the rear are optional.

How to Move a Scissor Lift with a Trailer

In some instances, scissor lifts don’t leave the warehouse for years on end. However, some blokes do maintenance work in an urban setting regularly. Setting up urban equipment, wiring or electric systems is often done at or above ceiling level. You might find yourself renting, buying or selling a scissor lift and transport can drive costs up.

These are just some of the scenarios in which you need to move a scissor lift in a trailer. And the most convenient way to do it would be to use a large universal trailer upgraded with a ramp. You can put your mower trailer to work as well – if you apply the appropriate precautions and secure the scissor lift. The only consideration of significance would be the actual size of the lift.

They can be heftier than your usual ride on mower so first run calculation as to the capacity of the trailer to take such beast. It’s not just the carrying capacity either. Heavy scissor lifts have to be secured with chains, nylon straps and come-along. If your trailer doesn’t have any of these, then you might need an upgrade or a new trailer altogether. Other than that, it’s practically the same – you need at least four anchor points to secure the machine once loaded onto the trailer.

What You Need to Know to Get a Forklift Across Safely

You already know that forklifts come with a variety of engine types that make them quite powerful machines, however, this often translates into more complex issues during transport. And you need to do some extra work apart from the obvious weight measurements.

Preparation of the forklift is paramount for safe transport with a trailer. For starters, the forks have to be lowered to the lowest possible position and to face forward. The best way to do this is to climb the trailer ramp in reverse gear.

Once there you need to make sure the fuel supply is shut off. Any splash of diesel during transit is a safety hazard you don’t want on your hands. If the forklift is fueled by batteries, disconnect them before transport. It helps prevent arching and it stops the engine of the machine from starting during transit.

We touched upon securing the machine to four anchor points. What is unique to transporting forklifts on a trailer though is the fact you need to choke the wheels. Placing wooden blocks in front of and behind the wheels is not enough, you need to fasten them to the trailer tray with screws.

Get the Trailer You Really Need

You can easily customise your trailer these days. So instead of going for what the market already has, you can go for the trailer you need. Australian trailer makers allow for a wide array of customisation options to choose from. Capacity alone goes from 750kg GVM to 4000kg GVM. Not to mention all of the contraptions you can add to make your trailer most suitable for the transportation of your equipment.

When it comes to transporting equipment and goods, sometimes utes and ute tray equipment can’t do the job. Hence, the need for enclosed trailers.

Source: tptrailersinc.com

Many factors are at play when you set out to buy a closed box trailer. The market is saturated with models and their vague short descriptions don’t help you either. So, if you are wondering what features to consider to ensure you get the right enclosed utility trailer, you might find the following buyer’s guide useful.

Materials

The service life of the trailer depends on the materials put into making it. It’s weight also. Chief contenders here are aluminium and steel. Aluminium will decrease the overall weight of the trailer and does not rust. You need to make sure to do some maintenance from time to time (checking for cracks) and keep them clean.

Steel is a cheaper option, but it can add up some weight which can make towing it somewhat more difficult. If left unchecked, steel can rust and crack. On the other hand, you can pick a trailer made of galvanised steel (also known as no maintenance steel) which is superior to plain steel. Combined with a good quality baseline (like a checkered plate), it can serve you for a long time to come.

Usually, the most durable and lightweight enclosed trailers on the market are a combination of an aluminium body and a galvanised steel chassis and frame. This way, you can get the best of both worlds..

Source: tptrailersinc.com

Size

It is very likely that you already have the measurements of your ideal closed in utility trailer. It is a good place to start, but don’t expect that you will always find exactly what you ask for. Go for a manufacturer that offers several options for standardised size customisation of enclosed trailers, like 8 x 5, 9 x 5, 10 x 5, 10 x 6 and 12 x 6 sizes (in meters).

When it comes to height, usually you can find either 1450 mm and 2000 mm versions. Just keep in mind that adding a square meter area to the inside has to be within the total carrying capacity of the trailer under load.

Construction Quality

Look for a trailer maker that uses high-quality fittings because this will translate into a longer lifespan and fewer defects. This applies to heavy-duty stainless steel hinges, gas struts and flush mount locks. It also extends to sealed lift doors or windows.

Buying an enclosed trailer that wasn’t crafted with much care will quickly make you search for the best industrial sealant to make it watertight. Go for retailers that can assure you that they are on top of their fabricating and sealing process. No one wants a leaking roof, not even in their utility trailer.

Outer Skin

There is a great deal of concern among prospective boxed trailer owners about the optimal outer skin width. The questions go along the lines of: Does the thickness of the outer skin matter? It depends. If you are looking for a cheap trailer that will be put to use occasionally – do get a trailer with a thin case.

If your trailer comes attached to your workhorse and you intend to use it along with your everyday business, then go for a thicker outer skin. Thick skin is more durable and resists warping when exposed to extremes in temperature.

Shape

Some people prefer rounded roofs which doesn’t make much sense for small enclosed utility trailer. The round roof adds slight headroom space but it doesn’t affect towing gas economy by a lot. Speaking of which a lot of owners seem to argue over the efficiency of v-nose compared to flat nose trailers. The v-nose might be marginally more efficient, but not to a degree that should dictate your choice.

Source: tptrailersinc.com

Colours

Sometimes appearance is important if you represent a business or a franchise. You should be mindful that not all of your colour wishes can be accommodated. You might be forced to select one of those that are available. Usually, these are basic colours like white, red, black, blue, green and silver. Some offer even more (up to 12) but this depends on the material for the trailer that you have already chosen in the first place.

Also, consider the things that you will be transporting. White and light colours generally handle heat better than black and dark colours. If you’ll be transporting goods that should stay cool, then light-coloured options are definitely more suitable.

Inside Compartments

The standard trailer is a simple enclosed box. While this is not your home or your tiny home and long term storage area is limited, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t put some thought into it. If you have a specific business need (like adding a freezer or adding an extra hinge here and there) and your trailer maker is not up for customisation, you will have to do this on your own. Or look for another professional.

Security and Locks

You have to be sure that your goods are secured. Go for a trailer that has good doors and sturdy impenetrable finish. This, combined with impact-resistant walls (to a reasonable degree) will not only keep your loads safe but will also extend the utility life of your trailer.

Though silos aren’t a recent creation, more so bearing in mind they were used since antiquity as grain and powder products storage solution, we have technology to thank for the numerous upgrades with the design available nowadays.

What this means is when you have a grain-producing business you have plenty of options to choose from, different types of silo for sale, however you can’t merely make a decision and buy based on the price.

Sure, the budget has a say in what you purchase but so do the features, meaning you have to make them part of the decision-making process in order to buy the best silo for your specific business needs. This is especially important because this kind of investment is supposed to serve you in the long run, it’s not something you’re going to be changing every year or so.

First and foremost, start by considering the size of the silo for sale, i.e. the capacity you’d make use of most knowing there’s a wide range of silo units of the same model differing in the amount of litres they can store, from 80 up to 600.

The calculations to be made depend on the amount of grain or other products you’re going to use it for. You won’t have to worry whether or not future needs would remain the same or expand since you can easily upgrade modern silos.

Also, think of where it would be best to fit a silo from the point of view of accessibility and how easy it is to assemble and disassemble it so you’d know how long the construction period would take.

To be sure on the longevity of the investment, all you have to do is consider the materials the silo is made of, knowing those entirely constructed of stainless steel are highly durable. Likewise, this choice has to do with suitability of the silos for indoor or outdoor use, since outdoor silos are meant to be resistant to the weather elements.

Other essential aspects are storage time and efficiency both crucial for the productivity of the business so silos with rapid storage ideal for long-term and short-term storage equally, enhanced loading system, innovative ventilation and temperature system, automatic distribution of materials to the point of use in production line are all useful and worth the investment.

In case you want to enhance the silos eventually, you can always count on accessories such as those that help with the easy inspection and cleaning.

You know that quote “Choose a job you love and you’ll never have to work a day in your life” often attributed to Mark Twain and Confucius? Well, while it may be true that having your dream job is one of life’s pleasures you’d get to enjoy every day it doesn’t mean you won’t have to invest everything you’ve got to make it happen and face all sorts of challenges that come your way.

It’s like that when you decide to open up a bakery and success won’t happen overnight nor without the investment in top-notch inventory, starting from the appliances. Sure, thinking of quality one imagines the initial costs but when you think long-term, can you really afford to buy something cheaper that would end up requiring many repairs and even replacement? If you want to get value for your money, you can’t compromise on quality.

Now that that’s settled, you also must give the appliances a thought because the kind of oven you get isn’t all there is to it, not when you have to acquire the adequate freezer too. The 2 door undercounter freezer is a great option for someone wanting to make the most of the space, especially in a kitchen where you have to be space-savvy.

Other than the great cooling and temperature controlling design, freezing from -18 to -22ºC, it’s a nice option in case you’re looking for a multi-purpose piece as it could be used as a workbench too, providing enough space that a counter would for example, so you’d save up money and space not buying a counter.

Besides, getting a 2 door undercounter freezer with wheels means you get a flexible appliance that you can easily move whenever needed and wherever for that matter, even under a counter. The same goes for other appliances too, if they’re designed to provide efficiency like dough sheeters, mixers and depositors then don’t leave them out.

Standing out from competition should be your priority too so apart from finding out about competition nearby, it’s advisable to invest in your menu, creating something new and tasty to attract people, not being afraid to experiment with ingredients and trends. Given the many health trends nowadays, a good start would be to consider including healthy pastries daily, using organic produce.

And oh, don’t take the power of free stuff for granted as it might turn out to be your best strategy in the long run. Free baked goods are enough to make people want to stop by at your bakery when you’re at the beginning with the business and trying to spread a word as well as when you’re trying to win over more customers years later.

AC induction motor is one of the most commonly used electrical motors used for various purposes. It converts electrical energy into mechanical energy and it is known as asynchronous motor, because it runs at a synchronous speed. The most common type of induction motor is the three phase AC induction motor, since it requires no starting device and is very economical. If you want to understand the working principle of AC induction motors, read on.

The three phase AC induction motor is composed of two major parts: stator and rotor. The stator is made up from several slots, in order to construct a 3-phase winding circuit, connected to a 3-phase AC power source. The winding circuit is especially modified with its slots to produce a rotating magnetic field as soon as they get AC. The other major part of 3-phase AC induction motor is the rotor. It is composed of a cylindrical laminated core with parallel slots able to carry conductors. Most conductors are nothing more than heavy copper or aluminum bars, perfectly fitting in each slot and short-circuited by the end rings. The slots are not exactly made parallel to the axis of the motor’s shaft, but they are arranged in a manner to reduce the magnetic humming noise and avoid motor stalling.

With AC induction motors, it is not all about supplying. The working principle of all types of AC induction motors is unique in all terms, yet simple since there is induction process involved. When supplying energy to the stator winding, flux is being generated in the coil as a consequence of current flow. Then, the rotor winding becomes short circuited in the rotor and the flux from the stator cuts the coil in the rotor. And since it is short-circuited, current starts flowing in the rotor’s coil. With the current flowing, flux is being generated in the rotor, which means, there are two flux now: stator flux and rotor flux. Due to this, the rotor deals with a torque that forces it to rotate in the direction of the magnetic fix’s rotation.

AC induction motors and their working principle bring many advantages. These are self-starting motors, more economical, easier to maintain and are more rugged compared to other motor alternatives. However, the greatest advantage of AC induction motors is their sheer simplicity. With only one moving part, these motors are incredibly cost-effective, quiet and durable.
