Cruising down the road on your motorbike, ripping over jumps, and enjoying the wind in your hair sounds like a thrill. Well, it is, if you don’t have to struggle with getting your ride from point A to point B. When you are transporting your motorcycle, what you need is a safe, cost-effective, and simple solution. So what can you do to achieve just that? By finding the right carrier. To help you make the best decision, we will explore some common types and the factors you need to consider when purchasing one.

What Is a Motorcycle Carrier?

Source: ridermagazine.com

Motorbike carriers are devices designed to transport your ride from one location to another. They come in various forms and can be used for different purposes. Choosing the most suitable and resilient motorcycle carriers depends on various factors, including your specific needs and preferences. There are multiple choices to choose from, each having its own benefits and drawbacks.

Different Types of Motorcycle Carriers

Trailer Motorcycle Carrier

These carriers are essentially small trailers designed to haul motorcycles. They can be towed by a car or truck and are often used for long-distance transport. Trailer carriers can accommodate multiple motorbikes at once and are suitable for transporting over extended distances. However, in that case, you will need a larger vehicle to tow the heavy load. Trailer hitch motorcycle carriers are heavy-duty racks that allow safe and secure transportation of large bikes.

Hitch-Mount Motorcycle Carrier

Source: macpowergroup.com

These carriers attach to the hitch receiver of a vehicle, such as a car, SUV, or truck. They are usually compact and designed for transporting one or two motorcycles. Hitch-mounted carriers are a popular choice for short to medium-distance trips. They are available in both single and double-rail configurations. The single rail carriers are suitable for dirt bikes and smaller motorbikes, while double rail carriers can accommodate larger bikes. If you opt for this variety, make sure your vehicle’s hitch receiver can support the weight of your ride and the carrier.

Truck Bed Motorcycle Carrier

If you have a pickup truck, you can use a motorcycle carrier specifically designed for truck beds. These carriers secure the motorcycle in the bed of the truck, allowing you to transport it safely without the need for a trailer. They come in various designs, such as wheel chocks or track systems. Ensure your truck bed is large enough to accommodate the motorbike and the carrier.

Roof-Mounted Motorcycle Carrier

Roof carriers are less common but can be used to transport motorcycles on the roof of a car or SUV. They require a roof rack system and may be more challenging to load and unload. They are usually more suitable for lightweight motorcycles and scooters. When using this type of carrier, consider the height of your vehicle and the weight limit of your roof rack.

Van or Enclosed Trailer Motorcycle Carrier

Some motorcycle enthusiasts use vans or enclosed trailers specifically designed for transporting motorcycles. These provide protection from the elements and can be customized to fit multiple motorcycles.

Motorcycle Hitch Carriers

These carriers attach to the hitch receiver of your motorcycle itself and are used to transport smaller motorcycles or dirt bikes behind your main motorcycle. They are a practical solution for transporting additional motorcycles on road trips.

Factors to Consider When Choosing a Motorcycle Carrier

Source: rampitup.com.au

By considering the factors listed below and evaluating your specific needs, you can choose the right motorcycle carrier to safely and conveniently transport your motorcycle. Always follow the manufacturer’s guidelines and safety recommendations when using a carrier.

Motorcycle Size and Weight: Consider the size and weight of your motorcycle to ensure the carrier can safely accommodate it. Don’t forget to take into account the weight of the petrol as well. The owner’s manual gives you the ‘dry weight’, meaning an empty tank, and ‘wet weight’ which includes the petrol.

Vehicle Compatibility: Check if your vehicle has the appropriate hitch receiver, roof rack, or truck bed for the chosen carrier. Some carriers are designed for smaller bikes only, and others can carry bigger models.

Loading and Unloading: Evaluate how easy it is to load and unload your motorcycle onto the carrier. Some carriers may require additional equipment or assistance.

Security: Look for carriers with features like locking mechanisms to secure your motorcycle during transport. And follow the instructions. The last thing you want is a loose bike on the back of your vehicle.

Durability: Ensure the carrier is built with high-quality materials and is designed to withstand the rigours of the road. Most carriers are manufactured from either aluminium or steel. The former are lighter and low maintenance. The latter are more affordable and sturdier. All of them need to be tested for weight ratings.

Budget: Set a budget and choose a carrier that fits within your price range while still meeting your needs.

Maintenance: Consider the maintenance requirements of the carrier, such as cleaning and lubrication.

Laws and Regulations: Familiarize yourself with local and state regulations regarding motorcycle carriers and their usage.

Reviews and Recommendations: Read reviews and seek recommendations from fellow motorcycle enthusiasts to learn about the experiences of others with specific carriers.

Bottom Line

When choosing a motorcycle carrier, consider factors such as the size and weight of your motorcycle, the type of vehicle you’ll be using to transport it, the distance you’ll be travelling, and your budget. Make sure to follow safety guidelines and secure your motorcycle properly to prevent accidents during transport. Additionally, check your local regulations and laws regarding motorcycle transportation, as they may vary from place to place.

The handling of heavy materials in construction and pallet racking applications, such as warehouses, requires heavy-duty equipment. While the first piece of lifting equipment that comes in mid for this task to most people are cranes, it is safe to say that they are not the most adequate solution. Instead, many industries use scissor lifts, since they are much more versatile and can be moved easily from one point to another.

This is especially important if you have a big storage facility and want to use one type of machinery at different locations without the need to make up for it in numbers. Scissor lifts can be extremely useful even when it comes to using one at different sites. While renting a trailer to transport them is something you’d consider it isn’t as cost-effective as getting a scissor lift cargo trailer.

Source: rockystrailersandmore.com

What is a Scissor Lift Trailer?

Although every trailer is essentially the same some offer unique functions that are suitable for the transit of certain equipment and loads. In the case of scissor lift trailers, this is the platform. The platform of a scissor lift trailer can elevate and go down to provide an easy way to load the machinery. Some come with a door that acts as a ramp when put down on the ground. Unlike an enclosed trailer, a scissor lift trailer doesn’t have a roof or sidewalls which is what allows them to tow machinery such as scissor lifts.

Just like any machinery, scissor lifts have their advantages with the most prominent ones being safety and productivity. Thanks to the rails on the platform that scissor lifts move up and down workers can stand on it without worrying about their safety. Since they can easily be moved from one place to another, especially with the help of a trailer, scissor lifts make for highly productive machinery.

Source: compassgroup.co.nz

How to Tow a Scissor Lift

Preparation

Since you can put scissor lifts on a trailer and move them from one place to another, it’s important to know how to do so safely. This starts even before you’ve loaded the scissor lift. In the preparation stage, you need to ensure that the wheels of the towing vehicle are chocked and tyre pressure is at an adequate level. You should also fill the vehicle with enough petrol, if needed and put a nose jack under the front of the trailer. The nose jack will prevent the trailer from tipping over when loading the scissor lift on it.

Loading

Talking about loading a scissor lift on a trailer, the first thing you need to do is put down the ramp(s) or lower down the platform of the trailer. With that done, slowly drive the scissor lift up the ramp(s)/ platform until you have it touching the bar found at the front section of the trailer.

Source: felks.com.au

Secure

With the scissor lift in place, secure it using straps and chains. Do this with four anchors with one at each corner of the scissor lift. You should also chock the scissor lift. Do this by making sure you have the scissor lift centre from side to side with wooden blocks placed behind each wheel.

The blocks should be secured by putting 10 cm screws so that they are firmly pressed against the wheels. Make sure to turn off the fuel apply of the scissor lift and disconnect its battery terminals too. Just remember to connect the terminals and open up the fuel supply once you get to your destination.

Driving

When towing a scissor lift you should always be aware of its size as well as its weight. When driving you should always keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front, this means leaving more space than usual as your braking and the braking of the person in front of you is not going to be the same. You have a heavy load at the back so sudden movement is not recommended.

You’ll want to predict traffic when towing a scissor lift. Therefore you should brake a lot earlier than you normally would and you should accelerate and decelerate slower too. You should drive below the speed limit to prevent the scissor lift and trailer from swaying which can be quite dangerous especially on rainy days.

You should also consider installing towing mirrors so that it’s easier for you to navigate through tight spaces as towing mirrors give you a wider field of view. Ensure that your ride is as smooth as possible unless you’re not driving on a bumpy road, as this way you will ensure you have a safe trip.

Unloading

Once you arrive at your destination unloading the trailer is going to start by putting the ramp or platform down on the ground. You should then remove the straps and/ or chains. As we mentioned before don’t forget to turn on the fuel supply and connect the battery terminals of the scissor lift. Then continue by removing the wooden blocks from the wheels. Once you’ve done all that just get in the scissor lift and then carefully drive back down the ramp/platform and you’re done.

While being on a boat can make someone seasick, the experience of boating alone and the benefits from it can sometimes be enough to go boating despite experiencing sickness. If you just devote yourself to the experience and try to enjoy it you can reap many of the benefits that boating offers. Not only do you get to breathe fresh air, but you also get to breathe salty air. Salty air can help you absorb oxygen, and being near water, in general, helps us be calmer and happier alongside being beneficial to our physical health. You can tune out completely and relax after a hard-working week.

Boating lets you have a more fun time with family and friends while it makes for great exercise too. Handling a boat and course-plotting around a busy inlet can get you going and make for a great day’s worth of exercise. But just as you would use a trailer to transport farming supplies or warehouse equipment you need a boat trailer to transport your boat to the dock. Sometimes, you also need extra supplies to make that boating experience a little bit better.

How to Adjust Rollers on Boat Trailer

Source: thehulltruth.com

The best way to adjust the roller for a boat trailer is to have your boat parked at a boat ramp or have it towed down to a car park. Either works, just make sure you have enough clear space to work with so you can properly adjust the trailer bracket.

When adjusting a trailer roller for your boat, make sure to have the width measurements right first. Measure from the centre of your boat to each strake. After that, just set the height of your boat roller using a string that will run from the front to back.

The angle should be anywhere from about 5° to 8°. You need to take the measurement from the 2nd roller at the front since each hull has a different entry angle.

Place the roller about 10-15mm lower and after that just pull the boat back on to ensure it is on the centre of the rollers. Jack up each roller starting from the back until you have them touching the hull of the boat without taking the weight.

Then, back off the keel rollers with about a quarter or half a turn on the height bolts. Drive your trailer up the road or car park and settle the boat down on it. After that, reset the keel rollers and take the load of the boat together with the front bow roller and self-centring rollers.

Once all this is done, you should have the boat supported between its strakes and the keel trailer bracket (roller) evenly. You will still have about 5° downslope. If you don’t have it though, you can just repeat step 3 until you’re all set.

Types of Trailer Brackets

Source: skisafe.com

HDPE

Rollers that are used for aluminium vessels and trailers are made of high-density polyethylene plastic or HDPE. These rollers can last you a lifetime since they are tough and do not crack or split as easily. HDPE rollers will make launching and retrieving your boat a walk in the park.

Polyurethane

If you have a fibreglass boat your best option is to get polyurethane rollers. These rollers are softer than HDPE ones but they are also strong enough to prevent splits or cracks. In order to get the maximum lifespan of a polyurethane roller, you need to perform proper maintenance regularly.

Rubber

Rubber rollers are usually black in colour and are the most budget-friendly rollers since they have quite a limited lifespan. With constant use, rubber rollers are easy to split, crack or even get a flat spot. You need to take extensive care of them in order for them to last you for as long as they can while withstanding the rigours of the sea.

Self-Centring

Moving on from materials, there are also different styles of rollers that I mentioned above. Starting with self-centring rollers, you get a boat roller that comes with grooves to keep the ship’s hull centre aligned while hauled onto a trailer.

Bow

Bow rollers are used in order to provide the necessary grip for the boat while towing. Bow rollers need to be sturdy and tough to keep all the weight under control.

Wobble

A wobble roller is made so it fits the hull curvature perfectly. A wobble roller can usually carry about 40% of the boat’s mass. This makes these rollers ideal for when you’re travelling long distances with your boat at the back.

Measuring A Trailer Bracket

Measuring any kind of trailer roller includes starting out with the width and the diameter of the roller. After you’ve measured them, you need to measure the inside diameter of the bushing.

You will also want to measure the shaft at its widest part as it can help you get a more accurate roller for your trailer. Remember, the bushing inner diameter and shaft diameter are different and this is normal as the roller may need to wobble and do so efficiently. The last thing you need to do is measure the midpoint of the bushing from one edge to the other and you have all the dimensions necessary for a perfectly fitted roller.

From sounds, cave drawings, languages, all the way to delivery and today’s advanced messaging applications – being the social creatures we are, we have been always seeking better ways to share information. However, when it comes to correspondence, nothing beats the good old hand delivery. For some, this may be because sending mail in an envelope reminds them of simpler times, or because of the romantic and nostalgic feelings of receiving something in a mail box.

Source:Google

But when it comes to businesses, mailing sensitive information is definitely best done in hard copies. And more importantly, for some businesses, simple things like convenient, reliable document envelopes might not only save you money, protecting you from shipping things again and again but also help you make a name for yourself.

Source:Safepak

Safe Delivery of Documents and Accurate Delivery of Goods

There is certain information that needs to be protected when you are running a business, especially if you’re sending important documents, sensitive information or invoices to clients or employees. Mailing paper via the post is still one pretty foolproof method to exchange documents in the most secure way. And this is where a quality reliable document envelope is the best solution.

Envelopes come in many different forms, but there is no better alternative than document enclosed envelopes for protecting your files during transport, and for assuring accurate and timely delivery of your business’ goods. These so-called doculopes or invoice envelopes might even be crucial for businesses that sell different items over the internet and ship them across the globe because, in this day and age, delivery problems can affect sales very negatively.

Doculopes are versatile and very useful. They are made in different dimensions, from different materials and they are very convenient to use. The way they are designed, allows you to insert your documents easily. They feature a very effective closure that keeps the files safe from falling out, and that can also be very easily opened, without cutting or opening the envelope by force. Furthermore, it features a clear side, that provides a readable space for delivery information, or for holding an invoice, in a safe way, which is why they are often used to accompany package deliveries, small or large.

Source:Huntoffice

Document enclosed envelopes might seem pricy at first glance, but, being such a safe way to enclose your files, and such a big help for accurate delivery of goods, they are in fact very cost-effective. By keeping your documents safe, and assuring the safe delivery of goods, in the long run it can save you a lot of money.

Note: One thing to keep in mind with hard copies, is that letters can sometimes be lost in transport. For this reason, if the documents in question are of sensitive nature – contracts, invoices, other files with important information…, you should make sure you have a copy for yourself, to ensure that you wouldn’t lose information. Apart from keeping hard copies, you could also scan your documents and keep them as images or PDF files on a secure computer or hard drive.

Source:Businessinsider

Problems with Sending Important Documents via Email

For businesses that don’t ship out packages, doculopes are still the safest way to deliver documents. One of the reasons business people list why it is safer to send documents via conventional mail is because all the things that might be lurking over the internet, such as malware or hackers. Though email services are becoming better and better at protecting your data, malware also becomes more and more advanced. This means that if your information is very sensitive, you can never be too sure, so you should be careful with what you are sending over the internet.

But regardless of all of this, in the last decades sending documents via email has become a very common practice. It’s faster and it’s much easier. And, while obviously emails and other applications that allow for message and document exchange are great for fast correspondence, when you have to send something sensitive or very important, you should go with the more reliable way – hand delivery. That is because when it comes to more important and sensitive data, using the post protects you against having crucial and sensitive data lost or stolen.

Note: If you don’t have a choice but to send important documents via email, you should make sure that your files are encrypted. The good news is that there are many tools you can use for this purpose. Amongst other things, you could also password protect them, so when they get to the recipient, they could use it to open them. However, never send the password within the email – because that would contradict the objective of the encryption.

For a senior, being able to get their mobility back can be a life-changing experience. Scooters give seniors with mobility issues an opportunity to go anywhere and do just about anything they want such as spend time with their grandkids, go grocery shopping, or just cruise the neighbourhood’s streets.

The growing demand for mobility scooters has inspired the emerging of a variety of choices available on the market, so you may find yourself struggling to decide which model to buy. When it comes to choosing scooters for senior, it is especially important to choose a model that is easy to use and operate. Here are some things you should definitely look out for in order to make the best decision.

Easy to Maneuver

When looking for scooters for seniors, check if the model you are considering has a delta tilter or a normal handlebar. For seniors that lack arm and upper body strength and dexterity, a scooter with a delta tiller is a better option than a normal handlebar. That is because delta tillers are designed for ease maneuvering even for those who lack upper body strength. This allows a more comfortable ride and also eliminates the chances of the senior losing steering control.

Easy to Get On and Off

Choosing a scooter that features a chair with swivel function can help erase getting on and off problems as it allows the user to turn the chair and be able to mount and dismount easily. Picking a scooter with a height adjustable chair is another great way to ensure that the user can get on and off easily.

Easy to Transport

The main purpose of a mobility scooter is to make things easier for its user. So, picking a heavy scooter that has a complicated folding mechanism won’t do any good. Try to find a model that has a low total weight and an easy folding mechanism – some high-tech models can even fold automatically with the push of a button. Although scooters usually have simple folding mechanisms, their weight can vary greatly. Look for a model that can be disassembled into 2 or more pieces – this can help the caregiver to easily load it into the back of their car trunk or store it away home.

Finally, before making a decision, make sure you understand the needs of the person in question. Keep in mind that going for the most expensive model isn’t always the best option, especially if the scooter is going to be used to aid the person while indoors and just going for small runs. A simple, more affordable scooter might be just what you need. But if the scooter is going to be used mostly outdoors, you should choose a sturdier off-road model. These scooters for seniors can easily take the user anywhere and everywhere they would like to go.
